Nick Farr

Hello, I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Board-Certified Music Therapist, and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapist. I earned my Bachelor of Science degrees in Music Therapy & Guitar Performance at Utah State University, and then went on to complete my Master of Science degree in Music Therapy at Molloy University! Aside from my role co-running the Music Academy, I also serve as an adjunct instructor at Molloy University and Hofstra University. I teach clinical improvisation, telehealth music therapy, and the therapeutic applications of music – in addition to being a clinical supervisor to music therapy fieldwork and internship students! I completed my Level 2 Certification in Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy under the supervision of Dr. Alan Turry. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Music Therapy at New York University. In my clinical practice, I primarily work within an improvisational model to provide unique and adaptable experiences to best fit the needs of individuals throughout their process. In addition to providing music therapy services, I also teach music classes, and instrumental lessons to students of all ages and abilities. It is an absolute joy to be part of this amazing team and to work with this incredible community!

I started at The Music Academy as a Music Therapist in 2016. At the time, I was one of only two music therapists, and three instructors. In 2018, I was promoted to Director of Music Therapy , creating and developing the music therapy program and later, the community class program. After our founder Maria retired in 2022, I became the new Owner of The Music Academy. It is an honor to work with this team to continue providing services to this incredible community!

Hi! So lovely to meet you! I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board-Certified Music Therapist. I started at The Music Academy (TMA) as a music therapy intern in 2020, and I now serve as a clinician, clinical supervisor, and as the Program Director. It is a joy and an honor to lead this team, as well as maintain a caseload of my own clients as a creative arts therapist and music therapist; clinically supervise undergraduate and graduate music therapy students and music therapy professionals; and build and expand TMA’s programs with external organizations both on Long Island and across the USA. I absolutely love the work that I do at TMA, and I especially love working with individuals of all ages and abilities. I cherish every moment spent creating with clients, co-running the clinic, supervising clinicians, and growing in my work each day! In addition to my work at TMA, I also provide online group therapy services for high-acuity teens and young adults undergoing intensive outpatient treatment in 37+ states.

I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Therapy/Minor in Psychology in 2021, and my Master of Science Degree in Music Therapy in 2023. I am currently pursuing my Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Counseling and Psychological Studies with a Concentration in Human Services Counseling. My focuses within my doctoral studies are global mental healthcare systems, humanitarian assistance work, and work-life balance advocacy for mental health professionals. In conjunction with my doctoral studies, I also work as a clinical supervisor with a non-profit organization. I serve on virtual missions, providing clinical supervision to counselors in Malaysia and teaching virtual counseling courses to adult learners in Uganda. It is so exciting to contribute to initiatives both globally and within the USA!
