Music Therapy Internship at

The Music Academy for Special Learners

At TMA, we are passionate about cultivating the next generation of music therapists. Our internship program offers a rich and varied training experience rooted in collaboration, creativity, and clinical excellence.

TMA is a private practice serving multiple communities across Long Island. Our internship includes supervised clinical work across our three clinic locations, as well as in schools, residential treatment centers, hospitals, long-term care facilities, Alzheimer’s centers, and other partner sites. We serve children, adolescents, and adults through a wide range of service formats, including individual sessions, group sessions, community wellness programs, and staff support services.

Interns at TMA gain hands-on experience working with diverse populations and settings, both in-person and via telehealth. Each intern will lead both individual and group music therapy sessions alongside their supervisors and co-interns, gradually transitioning to independent clinical work as they are ready. Interns are supported throughout the experience with regular supervision, collaborative planning, and an emphasis on growth as both a therapist and musician.
